NaNoWriMo Week 1: Virii, Football and MacHeist

November 6th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

Week one got off to a good start when I was able to clear my school schedule all the way until November 12 by the simple expedient of doing my homework early. Things got a little rougher later on in the week, however, when everyone in my house got very sick. Twice.  Then there was a football game at which I had to work.  And today, MacHeist announced a free bundle.  So that’s awesome. Go check out the six free products, and give me a suggestion about which one I should write about in the first week of December.

If you need a more immediate fix, download Hordes of Orcs, then re-read this classic iFAQ written by Grug the Orc from Hordes of Orcs.

Okay, back into the breach!

Nate, you should write about all the apps, and do it for free, because isn’t that what we pay you for?

When I looked at the MacHeist free offering, I thought, “Free is a very good price,” and “These look like good, useful apps.”

Then I remembered that I already have in excess of 800 apps and utilities on my Mac, most of which I don’t use, so I decided not to bite.

I’m hoping the next MacHeist bundle will include the following apps, because then I will definitely pounce:

    FontLab
    Excentro
    Mathematica
    PrintChef for Mac OS X
    VectorWorks
Zillions of Games for Mac OS X
    Genuine Fractals
    Poser
Lode Runner for Mac OS X
Halo 3 for Mac OS X
    FractaSketch for Mac OS X

That should be enough for now.

Lode Runner for Mac OS X

Yes Please! I would pay big money for Lode Runner!
Oh, second, by the way. Guess I haven’t commented in a while.

How about WriteRoom and Mariner Write? Hopefully we will get Mariner Write. Not that I’m a writer but it looks interesting.

I’m sure you’ll write about what interests you but that’s what a blog is all about. Am I write?

Okay, I broke down and got the bundle. I might actually use ShoveBox. If I were a writer I might use WriteRoom, but I’m not.

But when the ‘great idea for a story’ surfaces, it’s good to already have the program you need.

Comon, Nate! You can do it! Less than 5000 words! Hang in there!
